Hello, hello! The NHL season is officially underway and me personally I'm 5 games into my season which isn't a bad start all things considered. There's been some fun games, some boring games, and some downright bad games (cough Vancouver cough). The Vancouver game I shot less than 200 images I think, usually my average is around 300. Just an ugly hockey game to cover from start to finish. The bright side to all of it is I was still able to create some images I was a fan of, the header photo of Cam Atkinson being my favorite out of my 5 game stretch. So here's some of my favorites from the season I've taken so far!
On a closing note I wanted to talk about something new that I tried at Wild games. Normally I'll do an overhead remote and it's always over the goalie, but the Columbus game I wanted to do something different and something I had thought about doing for a while, which was a remote over the faceoff dot. Can't do one over the center ice faceoff because of logistics and a number of other reasons, so instead I went with one close to the end boards. The first result (Columbus game) was just ok and I knew I could do better in regards to my settings because the initial image came out a little too underexposed. My second try for the Penguins game was much better and closer to what I was looking for. I don't think I'll do this very often, but it will be done again next time there's a big name/big story in town and they're taking faceoffs.
Thanks for reading! Basketball season started up for me too so I'm about to be very busy!
